SCHOLARSHIPS

SCHOLARSHIP GUIDELINES/REQUIREMENTS

Unlike fellowships, scholarship programs are more significant in scope, skill expectation and impact on the career of the recipient. In the past, such scholarships have included Turbojet type ratings, flight engineer rating, flight officer training and initial flight training grants. At the convention in 2008 OBAP will broaden its scholarship opportunities to not just the pilot community, but to other careers in the aviation industry. This will start the implementation of Project Aerospace “Cradle to Career”.

There is no reliable schedule that identifies when scholarship offers will be provided to OBAP, however, with our website and the PIREP news, we will provide notice of such opportunities to our members in a timely manner. Also, we will give our members sufficient time to put together a competitive package.

In the past, we have issued scholarships to our members and left it up to the member to find his/her on training to satisfy the scholarship requirement. This year with every scholarship that is issued, the recipient will be assigned a mentor to assist the recipient in making a sound decision when utilizing the scholarship.

Submission Requirements

Each applicant must be an OBAP member in good standing and may apply for no more than two scholarships. These requirements are in addition to all stated specific requirements for that particular scholarship.

Selection Factors

Many factors are considered when scholarship selections are made. Some of the factors are but not limited to the following; Achievements, attitude toward others, commitment to success, financial need, and responsibility.
