Following a 41-year career with MITRE Corporation, a not-for-profit organization that operates research and development centers sponsored by the federal government, Mr. Chambliss retired in 2015.

During his tenure, Mr. Chambliss served in various capacities including Department Head for MITRE/CAASD's Air Traffic Management Research and Demonstration Lab and Department Head responsible for MITRE/CAASD's Traffic Flow Management & Terminal system engineering and development work.  Mr. Chambliss, Aviation System Engineer and Researcher, managed day-to-day operations of the Lab and coordinated the design, evolution and use of the CAASD ATM Lab in addition to providing system engineering leadership and technical contributions to the international aviation work program.
